Sprint and Joe Gibbs Racing to Sponsor Denny Hamlin’s Charity Race

Richmond, VA – The Denny Hamlin Foundation announced today that Sprint and Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) returned to sponsor the Denny Hamlin Foundation Short Track Showdown Presented by FedEx on April 25, 2013 at Richmond International Raceway.

“We are happy to have them on board again this year,” Denny Hamlin, FedEx #11 Sprint Cup NASCAR driver, said. “Both Sprint and JGR have been wonderful partners in helping us put on the Short Track Showdown. This race is important to me and having great companies such as Sprint and JGR help make it possible. We couldn’t do it without them.”

Other sponsors of the event include FedEx, Toyota, McGeorge Toyota, SunTrust, Mid Atlantic AAA, Sport Clips, NASCAR Foundation, Victory Junction, Stock Car Steel, Tag Heuer, Martins and Walmart.

In 2012, the Denny Hamlin Foundation committed to a 3-year grant totaling $150,000 for the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR). Funds from the grant, which are raised through events like this year’s Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown Presented by FedEx at Richmond International Raceway, will help accelerate the Denny Hamlin Cystic Fibrosis Research Lab’s ability to bring new therapies to cystic fibrosis patients. In addition, the newly established Denny Hamlin Foundation Summer Scholars program will help train the next generation of CF research scientists.
